Maintaining the correct humidity in the ant farm directly impacts the health and activity of the ants. Optimal humidity conditions provide ants with a comfortable environment, promoting successful reproduction, growth, and colony development. Additionally, humidity levels affect ant activity in building nests and foraging for food. Regular humidity care in the ant farm allows for the creation of optimal conditions for ant life, contributing to their long-term health and prosperity.
In the natural environment, most ants inhabit the soil, where the humidity is always higher than on the surface. Therefore, maintaining the correct humidity level is important for successful care of them! Your ant farm already has automatic humidification, which significantly simplifies this process. Here's what you need to do:
- Soak the round sponge in warm water until it is completely saturated and soft.
- Fill the test tube with clean, boiled, and cooled water.
- Place the sponge in the test tube so that it is almost to the end, leaving approximately 2-3 mm of the sponge protruding.
- Insert the test tube into the designated hole for humidification.
Our automatic water delivery system through the gypsum block is not just a convenience; it's real magic, turning caring for your colony into a true adventure. This block, akin to a mysterious alchemical reactor, not only absorbs moisture but also carefully distributes it throughout the ant farm, creating ideal conditions for the flourishing of your ant civilization. There are two ways to do this:
- Refill the water every two to three days using a measuring pipette.
- Use automatic humidification, which provides up to two weeks of continuous humidification from a single refill.
We advise you to always use clean, boiled and cooled water.
When considering the issue of drinking, it's important to take into account the characteristics of your ant species. Each kit always includes a sponge, which is recommended to be soaked in water beforehand and then placed in the arena to provide access to water.
The ant farm includes an insert with gypsum - a gypsum block. The approximate service life is 2 years. Additionally, in each farm, we have provided for its replacement without fully dismantling the structure.
